The Birth of Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse Author: 10 Year Old Student

"The Birth of Mickey Mouse" shows how Walt Disney created a new cartoon character. He wanted to make a moving picture for an animal, but he didn't know what animal to use. Then he thought of one, a mouse. He named it Mortimer. His wife, Lilly didn't like that name so now his name is Mickey Mouse.

Mr. Disney wanted Mickey to be mischievous, so that he will never run out of ideas.

Unfortunately, Disney made three silent Mickey film at a time when the talkies were just invented. No one wanted to watch a silent film.

In 1927, The Jazz Singer was invented. So Walt Disney changed the film called Steamboat Willie and used his voice in it. Now Mickey Mouse is a famous mouse.
